Political analyst Prof Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani appointed as UUM deputy vice-chancellor

SINTOK: Political analyst Prof Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani has been appointed as Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) effective from Feb 26 this year until Feb 25, 2026.

A specialist in politics and international relations, Azizudin earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Keele University, United Kingdom, in 2007.

In addition, he holds a Master of Arts in Political Science (2000) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History (1999) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Azizudin was awarded the title of Professor during his time at the School of International Studies (Sois), UUM, in 2016.

At UUM, he has previously served as Sois dean and Research and Innovation Management Centre (RIMC) director.

Internationally, Azizuddin has been a visiting fellow at the Yusof Ishak Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore, and a visiting professor at the National Institute of Development and Administration (NIDA) in Thailand.

Currently, Azizudin is the Association of Malaysian and International Studies (AIMS) chairman and frequently contributes as a columnist for local media outlets, discussing political and international relations issues.
