As we r Chinese, it is fundamental to hv basic knowledge of Mandarin language. Even other nationalities study Mandarin n they speak like the Chinese people without looking at them. Coz by listening to them speak tis language they sound like us. It's a shame tat as Chinese, cannot speak tis language. In the beginning, of course wl be tough. Hv patience can overcome difficulties, nothing is impossible! Good luck n CHEERS.
