The rise of social media has fuelled the illegal wildlife pet trade in Malaysia; seeing an increase in the number of ads where poachers advertise animals that have been ruthlessly captured from the wild.
Gibbons are a major target for the illegal wildlife pet trade, and with an entire family having to be killed just to capture one baby gibbon, the endangered species is at great risk.

Bam, the founder of the Gibbon Protection Society Malaysia (GPSM), Peninsular Malaysia’s only NGO dedicated to protecting their resident gibbons, is working tirelessly to change hearts and minds in Malaysia by collaborating with the public to bring an end to the tragedy.
