Prosus may lift Delivery Hero stake to fend off Uber

Prosus, a Dutch technology investor, is considering increasing its stake in Berlin-based food-delivery company Delivery Hero, according to people familiar with the matter.
The company also has discussed possible share purchase prices with other investors.
The move is aimed at thwarting a potential takeover attempt for Delivery Hero by Uber.
Prosus held 16.83% of Delivery Hero, according to London Stock Exchange Group data.
The reported move would fit Prosus’s broader food-delivery strategy after it agreed to acquire Just Eat Takeaway.com for 4.1 billion euros (US$4.78 billion), while saying Delivery Hero is part of its global food-delivery portfolio.
Any bid for Delivery Hero would likely face European Union antitrust scrutiny.
Brussels recently approved Prosus’s acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway.com, and food-delivery consolidation in Europe is subject to merger review.
