Remand extended for three suspects in DBKL IT project corruption case

KUALA LUMPUR: The remand period for three people, including a senior officer from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), who are being investigated in connection with a corruption case related to IT project procurement, has been extended by one more day.
According to sources, the remand period for all three suspects ended yesterday but was extended until tomorrow to complete the investigation.
"To date, 10 individuals have had their statements recorded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in relation to the ongoing corruption case.
"The remand for the three suspects, which lasted four days and ended yesterday, has been extended until tomorrow for further investigations by the MACC," the source said today.

It was previously reported that a senior DBKL officer was arrested by the MACC on Monday.
It is understood that the arrest is linked to the procurement of an information technology (IT)-related project.
In addition to the senior officer, two members of the public, believed to be contractors for the project, were also arrested in connection with the case.
Earlier media reports revealed that a senior officer from a local government agency was among the three arrested by MACC for suspected involvement in corruption dating back to 2014.
According to sources, the officer, who is in his 50s and serves in the capital, was detained around 4pm at his office.
The company owner, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 40s, were arrested at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya and the MACC office in Kuala Lumpur.
