Removing A Big Foxtail From Bunny#428

Strange incident·2025-06-14 02:01

In this footage, you observe an unlucky rabbit that encountered a large Cuterebra trying to infest its belly and claim it as its own. Fortunately, the vet, with the help of their assistants, acted swiftly to extract it without hesitation. The problem with a Cuterebra larva typically arises when a female Cuterebra lays her eggs in locations commonly visited by potential hosts, such as grassy meadows or forested areas. These eggs can end up on the fur of animals, like cats, as they move through these spaces. Alternatively, a host may unknowingly sniff or explore the eggs, causing the larvae to cling to their fur or skin. Once attached, the larvae burrow into the cat’s skin, seeking a warm, moist environment to grow into Cuterebra.
