Democratic senator Tim Kaine has said he has enough support for his war power bill to pas in the Republican-controlled Senate. Republicans Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah, Todd Young of Indiana and Susan Collins of Maine have agreed to back the measure following Mr Trump’s assassination of Iran’s top military commander, Qassem Soleimani, earlier this month. The cross-party support poured in after intelligence briefings last week focused on the reasons why Mr Trump chose to take out the former head of Iran’s Quds Forces, the Islamic Republic’s military wing.
