A Russianinfluencer known for having the 'world’s biggest lips' has been found dead in a sewer weeks after she mysteriously vanished.

Kristina Rei, 35, had disappeared in Black Sea resort Sochi in late September, sparking a month-long search by policewhich ended with her body being found and identified by tattoos. Officers are now investigating whether she was swept away by surging sewer water or if there was foul play over the death of the internet star, known as Miss Lips.

In 2011, Kristina was named in a book of records for having the “biggest lips” after undergoing 100-plus filler injections by the age of 22. The silicone jabs cost her around £4,000 and were “painful”, she said, as her unique look won attention from across the globe.

But she said: “I think I look fantastic and it makes me happy. Sometimes strangers shout names at me in the street - like big lips - but I don't care. I want to go more extreme. I want to look like a cartoon character. I am addicted to it. I love it.”

She told reporters: “My big lips have helped boost my confidence. Even my parents are happy for me. They really don't care about my appearance. Some of my friends have told me I shouldn't go any bigger but I'm not satisfied yet.”

Growing up, she was also jealous of her sister’s bigger lips, she said. “My older sister Ira had beautiful, full lips and I loved Jessica Rabbit's huge lips. She was my idea of the perfect woman,” she said.

“From the age of four I thought my lips seemed thinner than everyone else's and I decided when I was quite young to get them enhanced. In Russia, you see adverts for silicone and Botox on TV all the time.”

Kristina also spoke about being a victim of bullying at school, with her bullies teasing her about her appearance and calling her ugly, she said. “They didn't tease me because of my lips specifically - but I believed big, full lips would make me beautiful.”

She kickstarted her quest for bigger lips at 17 - but much later admitted she lost the fillers, and went back to her natural look. “I realised that I am really pretty - and these lips were unnecessary,” she said recently. Separately, she admitted: “It’s pretty sad to become famous all over the world for only one part of your body.

“If you think that's the kind of success I was aiming for, then of course not. It's better to have no fame at all than to become famous for this. And my lips were not made for this purpose, but only exclusively for the sake of my personal [psychological issues] related to severe childhood psychological trauma.

“The degree of lack of love in childhood, as well as lack of love for myself in the present, was directly proportional to all the ****ed up things I did with my appearance. And, by the way, fame brought me absolutely nothing.”

The beautician had around 10,000 followers on social media, and had moved from St Petersburg to Sochi. Investigators are checking if she was hit by a sudden surge of water in the sewer or if she had been killed and her body was dumped there. The reason she was in the sewer is not known. Her family have said they have been refused permission to see her body.

Kristina was originally from Russia’s largest island, Sakhalin, and studied Japanese at university.
