A Malaysian TikToker has apologised to Singaporeans after making false claims about Singapore's halalfood scene in a video.
The video, originally posted by TikToker @muiznazmi several months ago, was recently shared in the Facebook group Complaint Singapore, where it drew widespread criticism for its inaccurate remarks.
In the since-deleted video, the TikToker described Malaysia as "the best country" and praised its diverse food scene.
He went on to claim that travellers often struggle to find halal fast food overseas, before saying: "Even if you go to Singapore... you definitely can't eat their fast food because it's not halal.”
He then alleged that Singapore's McDonald's outlets "even have pork".
Many netizens were quick to point out that all McDonald's restaurants in Singapore have been halal-certified by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) since 1992.
Others also noted that Singapore has a wide variety of halal-certified fast food chains and eateries.
One Facebook user wrote: “Singapore is the only non-Muslim country in the world with so many halal-certified restaurants. Name it and [you'll probably] find it.”
Another commented: “So obvious he has never come to Singapore before.”
Following the backlash, the TikToker posted apologies on both TikTok and Facebook.
Addressing Singaporeans directly, he admitted he had made a mistake and apologised for spreading inaccurate information.
"I learned a lot [from] this case. I will do my research before making a video," he wrote, adding that he hoped Singaporeans would forgive him.

Another foreign trash with false claims about Singapore. I just don’t know why foreign trash keeps on picking Singapore? Too bitter that their country cannot match what is Singapore doing. Shame on you, are you not happy that your fellow countrymen are given opportunities to work in Singapore?
