Mediacorp actor Nick Teo revealed that his mother single-handedly raised three children alone after his father walked out on the family.

Mum was left to support 3 children

In a heartfelt tribute to his mother for Mother's Day, Teo shared that his father left their family when he was in secondary school.

His mother then shouldered the role of raising him and his two siblings, he said, adding that she entered the workforce after spending more than two decades as a housewife in order to support the family.

"The pay wasn’t much, but you worked tirelessly. You stood for long periods, lifted heavy objects, and you were so busy to the point you didn't even have time to sit down and rest."

"You were the one who was hurt the most, but you still became the pillar of this family," Teo said.

Mum wasn't one for "I love yous"

Teo also described the quiet, selfless ways his mother expressed her love.

She would remember what her children liked to eat and would secretly buy it for them, while she herself made do with plain bread for a meal.

Teo described his mum as someone who was not one for "I love yous" or frequent hugs, but her love was never lacking.

"It was hidden in every meal you made, in every "You all eat first," and in all the years you gritted your teeth and carried us through life," he said,

He ended his post by saying:

"Thank you, mum. Thank you for holding up our whole world on your own. And I hope you’re proud of who we’ve become today."

Teo's wife, actress Hong Ling, also left a comment under the post:
