Previously a PSP candidate in GE2020, this was her first time speaking at a rally, and during her speech mixing Mandarin, English, and Hokkien, she referred to an Indian teammate with a derogatory term. The incident quickly went viral, prompting her to issue an apology that night claiming ignorance of the term’s meaning, and another apology the next morning taking full responsibility. SDP chief Chee Soon Juan also apologised on behalf of the party and issued her a stern warning.Meanwhile, campaigning activities are heating up, with rallies being held across Singapore. A notable upcoming event is PAP’s iconic lunchtime rally on 28 April at the UOB Plaza promenade. Such rallies typically see office workers in the CBD taking long lunch breaks to attend, and the tradition is expected to draw a large crowd this time as well.Separately, a roundtable discussion involving major political parties was held, with some surprising representative choices. PAP sent Chee Hong Tat, WP sent Michael Thng instead of Jamus Lim or Harpreet Singh, while RDU and PAR were represented by their chiefs Ravi Philemon and Lim Tean respectively. PSP’s representative was Stephanie Tan, a former lawyer now a full-time caregiver. Although the roundtable lacked any viral "cockles of my heart" moments from past years, it still provided insights into each party’s approach for GE2025.
