The SPM candidate in Malacca, who is suspected of killing his mother and elder brother, may be suffering from a mental health condition.

The matter is revealed by the suspect’s lawyers, Cassian Anthony, Francis Augustine Sosay, and E Lee Thian, who said they were told about the suspect’s mental health condition by those who know him personally.

The lawyers, however, are not jumping to conclusions yet.

“We will review all possibilities before making any application to allow the accused to be referred to the experts at Hospital Bahagia,” Cassian told reporters at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate Court today (June 18).

The suspect arrived at the court this morning to face charges of killing his mother and elder brother. According to Cassian, despite knowing the consequences and possible punishments that the suspect may face, he seemed calm, reported the Malaysia Gazette.

The suspect’s younger brother and relatives were not seen at the court, although they were invited to sit for the proceedings.

Last week, a school teacher, Vernita Boon, was found dead at home, with her 21-year-old eldest son, Jarek, also found nearby, lying in a pool of blood. The suspect is said to have stabbed the victims multiple times with a 20 CM pocket knife due to immense pressure after constant scoldings by his mother.
