Sabah Education Dept: No VIP ties in Zara Qairina's case

KOTA KINABALU: Three students, who were among 60 individuals questioned by the police regarding the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, are still attending the same school and have not been transferred.

Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin said the three students are not children of VIPs, contrary to recent claims circulating on social media.

"All the students are still in school; none have dropped out," he said briefly when contacted by Sinar Harian on Saturday.

He added that there was "no connection with VIPs and the police".

Raisin also said that the Sabah Education Department fully trusts the police to conduct a thorough investigation and will await the official results.

Previously, three names, 'Kak Wana', 'Kak Dedeng', and 'Tomboi', linked to the death of Zara Qairina, a Form One student who fell from a religious school hostel building in Papar, were revealed on social media, sparking speculation among netizens.
