KOTA KINABALU, Sept 27 — Sabah FC clarified today that the recent transfer ban imposed on the club by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) was technical in nature and has been fully resolved.

Sabah FC stated tonight that the issue did not involve the management’s inability or refusal to make payments to the player involved.

Instead, the club explained that it was part of the process of accountability and transparency practiced, particularly in matters involving financial management.

“This issue involved a former Sabah FC player who had terminated his contract with the club. Although all salary payments were settled after the contract ended, the player submitted an additional claim.

“Checks revealed that the amount claimed had actually been paid while he was still with the team, but a technical issue arose in terms of the method and record of the payment transaction,” the statement read.

According to the club, the player subsequently escalated the matter to Fifa, and a decision was issued by the governing body.

After receiving the official decision from Fifa, Sabah FC made the additional payment as stipulated, and with this full settlement, Fifa will lift the player registration ban imposed on the team, it added. — Bernama
