KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Legislative Assembly is set to convene for two days from July 7 to 8, in what many believe could be the final session before the state legislature is dissolved.

A source from the Chief Minister’s Department confirmed that the sitting is officially listed as the Second Meeting, Fifth Session of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly, 2025.

The session is believed to include the tabling of a supplementary budget, among other matters.

The 17th Sabah state election must occur following the dissolution of the state assembly, which is constitutionally due by November 11, 2025.

Speculation suggests that Hajiji may dissolve the assembly as early as the third week of July, after the official celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negri’s birthday on June 21.
