Samsung leads global smartphone market in Q1 2026: report

Samsung Electronics led the global smartphone market in the first quarter of 2026 with a 22% share, according to Omdia.

The company shipped 65.4 million smartphones, ahead of Apple’s 60.4 million.

Omdia said Samsung also ranked first in Central and South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, helped by early demand for the Galaxy S26 series and sales of its lower-priced Galaxy A series.

Samsung shipped 12.9 million smartphones for a 37% market share and met demand with models across a wide price range.

Omdia separately said the company benefited from a broad range of devices across different price points.

In Southeast Asia, Samsung shipped 4.6 million smartphones for a 21% share, ahead of OPPO at 20%, Xiaomi at 17%, and TRANSSION at 16%.

The regional smartphone market fell 9% to 21.6 million units, while average selling prices rose 19% to a record US$349 amid repricing.
