If you’re a fan of Sex and the City, or its rebootAnd Just Like That, then chances are you’ve once asked yourself if you’re a Carrie, a Miranda, a Charlotte, or a Samantha. After all, with these four very different characters to choose from, it’s easy for a friend group to find themselves in each of them.

In fact, it’s a question Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays Carrie Bradshaw in both shows) has long grappled with.

“I’m probably a combination,” she told W Magazine in a new interview. “I share some of Carrie’s interests and certainly the way she feels about New York City and, in a less fevered way, her affection for shoes and fashion—but Carrie’s is heightened and otherworldly.”

“As a wife and a mother, I appreciate the things that Charlotte says at times, even though she says them in an often hysterical [way],” she said of Kristin Davis‘ more traditional and by-the-rules character. “I might not communicate in the same way, but there are concerns and ways in which she is a mother and a wife that I can relate to.”

Lastly, she relates to Cynthia Nixon‘s ambitious character, too. “There are things about Miranda that I really appreciate,” she explained. “She’s also serious and a parent.”

“So I think a bit of each, but, obviously, there’s sentimentality around Carrie that could muddy the waters, even for me,” she confessed.

As a reminder, while Carrie herself never had kids, despite her longtime marriage with Big (Chris Noth), Parker has three kids in real life. She’s a proud mom to son James Wilkie, born in 2002, and fraternal twins Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta, who were born in 2009, with husband and fellow actor Matthew Broderick.

As for Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha, Parker didn’t draw any connections to her personality. But whether that’s due to not having any, Samantha not being in And Just Like That, or their long-rumored feud behind the scenes, we’ll never know.

Currently, the third season of And Just Like That is in full swing. In it, Parker’s Carrie is starting a whole new career as a fiction writer, is on rocky ground with her on-and-off-again ex Aidan (John Corbett), and is busy furnishing her brand new gorgeous Gramery Park home. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
