Sarah Michelle Gellar is giving fans the most during her summer vacation, which has her in full mermaid mode.
The 48-year-old actress proved that the chicest bathing suit in swimwear is the little black one-piece. The strapless ensemble with a fitted waist flaunted her toned body as she gave her best mermaid pose in the transparent pool siding. “Tropic like it’s hot 🔥 I’m Sarah and I am an aquaholic,” she wrote in the punny Instagram caption.
If she wasn’t poolside, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was jumping off a yacht and into the crystal clear waters of the ocean — it appeared to be the perfect sun-soaked holiday! With her golden glow and sleek sunglasses, Gellar knows that the best party is a relaxing one.
The reason Gellar needs some rest is that she’s gearing up for a return to Sunnyvale. The reboot is in the works at Hulu and was announced in February — and yes, she’s back as Buffy. That’s a big 180-degree turnaround for Gellar, who was reluctant to step back into her signature role as late as April 2024.
“I mean, like, if Dolly Parton is going to call me, I’m always available to take a phone call from the queen,” she told Us Weeklywhen asked if anyone could convince her to return. If you didn’t know, Parton’s Sandollar Productions produced the 1992 film starring Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry, and the 1997 series on The WB, so she was an uncredited producer.
But the Queen of Country may have spilled the beans long before Gellar even thought a reboot was possible. “They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it,” Parton told Business Insider in January 2024. “They’re still working on that.” If anyone would know what was happening, it’s producer Parton!
Gellar also spilled a few details about the project to Vanity Fair in June.
“It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original. We will try to find a balance between new and old characters,” she revealed. “My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”
The Scooby Doo star also received great news on July 2 when the Hollywood Walk of Fame announced that she would receive a star in 2026. She will be inducted the same year as Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, and Stanley Tucci.
