Ever had someone message you saying, “Hey, someone is using your photos to scam people”?
Well, it is worse now.
These scammers are not just screen grabbing your Instagram. They are buying your pictures in bulk to catfish unsuspecting souls.
Instagram user Hao.hao exposed a shady China-based site called bblogo.com, where anyone can buy full photo sets of strangers for just 49 yuan (about S$8.70).
Isn't that identity theft and why is it that cheap?
Just pick a nationality, and the site serves up a lineup of mostly good-looking people.
Hao.hao clicked on the listing for Asian guys and was shocked to find multiple friends, including some influencers, with their images up for sale.
He used an example of Volvo’s newest CEO, Lin Yukaiwho recently went viral for his good looks, is also listed on the site.
And yes, there's tab for photos of Singaporeans too, and we spotted a number of friends whose pics have been mined as well as a page with Mediacorp actors Romeo Tan's and Shaun Chen's photos.
While we think it is quite silly to fall for pictures of famous people like then, stranger things have happened.
When it is too good to be true, it probably is.
Pictures of attractive people aren’t the only things up for sale.
He further revealed that there is an option to pay for photos of passports and IDs.
Wait, isn’t that illegal?

Scammers bought photos of victims n use it on AI to commit crime. Stupid Scammers, never think how to do a better business. Surrender yr own face is even better than buying victims' faces. Money may b loss but business is gain. We the victims internationally hv not seen yr face so as to the international police too.
