Dominic Sessa is cooking up his next project.

The Holdovers star rode a ferry June 19 in Hyannis, Mass., while filming scenes for the upcoming Anthony Bourdain biopic Tony, in which he plays the title role.

During filming, Dominic, 22, evoked the late Parts Unknown host’s early years as he wore his loose curls in a shaggy hairstyle. As for his wardrobe, the actor donned a red collared shirt underneath a black leather jacket for the nautical outing.

The setting of the shoot also indicates that the film will depict Anthony’s first foray into the culinary world. After all, his years spent in nearby Provincetown in the early 1970s were particularly formative—and not just for kicking off his career in the kitchen.

“I found my way back to my own past,” he said during a visit to the city in a November 2014 episode of the CNN series, “both in Massachusetts—which is where I started my career as a cook at age 17—and my own career with heroin.”

Indeed, Anthony—who died by suicide in 2018 at age 61—couldn’t help but reflect on his drug use as a young adult. And though he previously told Biography.com that he gave up heroin in the 1980s, he admitted during his 2014 visit that he had mixed feelings about his experimentation with substances.

“Looking at your own past and your own use,” he continued, “one is always filled with sweetness, sadness and regret.”

The upcoming biographical film, produced by A24, won’t be the first time Anthony’s life is examined onscreen. He was previously the subject of the 2021 documentary Roadrunner, which featured interviews with his friends and loved ones—as well as footage of Anthony himself recorded prior to his death.

“You're probably going to find out about it anyway,” he said in a trailer for the doc, “so here's a little preemptive truth telling: There's no happy ending.”
