Segamat quakes: JKR confirms roads, bridges safe for use

SEGAMAT: Federal and state roads and bridges in Segamat, under the supervision of the Public Works Department (JKR), remain safe for motorists following recent earthquakes here.
Segamat JKR announced on Facebook that inspections and monitoring have been conducted after the latest earthquake at 7.29am Saturday (Aug 30).
"JKR-owned roads and bridges in the north zone of the Segamat district are safe for motorists. Developments will be announced periodically," the department stated, adding that concessionaires and JKR inspection teams are monitoring to determine if any assets are damaged.
"Concessionaires are prepared to carry out emergency work should closures, cleaning, or other asset damage occur," it said, noting that details on any damage and estimated costs would also be announced.
So far, five quakes have been recorded in Segamat: a 4.1 magnitude quake at 6.13am on Aug 24, a 3.2 magnitude quake at 8.59am on Wednesday (Aug 27), a 2.5 magnitude quake at 7.56pm on Thursday (Aug 28), a 3.4 magnitude quake at 4.24am Friday (Aug 29), and a 2.7 magnitude quake at 7.29am Saturday. – Bernama
