Spring might have officially sprung, bringing with it a joyful pastel color palette. However, that doesn’t mean we must forgo black altogether—Selena Gomez certainly hasn’t. In fact, yesterday she made the inky hue look like the cheeriest color while stepping out in New York City.

The “Love On” singer’s recent trip to France appears to be having a lasting effect, as Gomez served up another elegant Parisian-chic ensemble—and once again championed the coquette trend. For the outing, she looked timeless in a black midi dress that featured a pencil skirt, long sleeves, and an off-the-shoulder construction that was lined with huge satin bows all around. She kept things monochromatic with sheer tights; glossy, strappy, pointed-toe pumps; and a slim velvet clutch bag with yellow-gold hardware. Gomez eschewed a necklace, allowing her fanciful neckline to shine, but added plenty of diamonds via stacks of glittering rings and giant stud earrings. For glam, she opted for classic Parisian makeup, complete with a soft brown smoky eye, fluttery eyelashes, rosy cheeks, and a muted-red lip, and swept her chestnut locks into a sophisticated side-parted, slicked-back bun.
