PASSENGERS on the Kelana Jaya LRT line can expect temporary service disruptions from Aug 9 to Nov 22.

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad group chief operating officer (strategy and development) Dr Prodyut Dutt said the disruptions are due to phased upgrades of the line’s Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system.

“The system will be upgraded to the latest SelTrac Generation 8 signalling system, featuring real-time data analytics, enhanced cybersecurity, and more stable communications,” he told a press conference at Menara Prasarana on Monday (July 28).

He added that the upgrade is part of a long-term solution following a major disruption in November 2022.

The works will take place in three phases. Phase 1, which was completed on July 19, primarily focused on depot areas.

During the upcoming phases, selected stations will open later than usual – at 9am instead of 6am – on weekends and public holidays to minimise commuter inconvenience.

Phase 2, running from Aug 9 to Sept 14, will involve 10 stations from KLCC to Gombak (Aug 9, 10, 16, 17, 23: KLCC, Ampang Park, Damai, Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek; and Sept 5, 6, 7, 14: Setiawangsa, Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati, Gombak).

Phase 3, scheduled from Oct 11 to Nov 22, will involve 17 stations from Lembah Subang to Ampang Park (Oct 11, 12, 18, 19: Lembah Subang, Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Asia Jaya, Taman Jaya; and Nov 1, 15, 16, 22: Universiti, Kerinchi, Abdullah Hukum, Bangsar, KL Sentral, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC, Ampang Park).

Stations not involved in testing will operate on their normal hours.

To ease travel during the disruptions, Prasarana will provide free shuttle buses and vans connecting the affected stations.

Trained personnel, including station staff, auxiliary police, and Prasarana Troopers, will be stationed on-site to assist passengers and ensure smooth transitions.

Passengers are advised to check the full schedule at www.myrapid.com.my or follow Rapid KL’s social media channels for real-time updates.
