What would you do if you unexpectedly spotted your best friend's favourite celebrity on a flight? Would you have the guts to say hello on their behalf?

One woman did exactly that after finding herself on the same flight as Jackson Wang from Hong Kong to Los Angeles earlier this week. She even took the opportunity to help her bestie score a handwritten note from the singer.

Sharing a photo of the note on social media, the overjoyed fan wrote: “Who gets a handwritten note from Jackson Wang with their name on it? Me!”

She added: "Too bad I wasn’t on the flight with her. But! My brave, kind, smart and thoughtful bestie gathered up the courage to leave Jackson a note, hoping he could write me a little message of encouragement. She placed it on the table while he went to the bathroom."

In the note, her friend introduced the fan as Shan Shan and politely asked if Jackson could leave her a short message, but only if it was convenient. She also wished him a pleasant trip to the US, adding that she hoped he would have "fewer worries and more freedom" during his stay.

She signed off as his "next-door neighbour" from seat 17D.

According to Shan Shan, when Jackson returned and noticed the note, he asked a flight attendant for a pen, wrote a reply, and personally handed it back to her friend.

His message read: “Shan Shan! Nice to hear about you! Hope everything is great with you! Take care, [and] also, thank you neighbour!”

He then signed off with his autograph.

“I was crying my eyes out! Jackson is seriously so kind!” Shan Shan gushed, adding that she now owes her bestie a proper thank-you for making it all happen.

The thoughtful friend also kept Shan Shan updated throughout the encounter via text, revealing that Jackson was wearing a face mask, looked "exactly like his photos online" in real life, had amazing skin and even smelled good.

Unsurprisingly, the wholesome interaction delighted netizens.

Many fans admitted they were envious of Shan Shan's incredible luck, while others joked: “It’s a good day to also be named Shan Shan.”

Others praised Jackson for taking the time to reply, saying the small gesture had undoubtedly made a fan's day.

But it wasn't just Jackson receiving compliments.

Shan Shan's bestie was also showered with praise for fully committing to the mission, with many declaring she was the ultimate wingwoman.

Bestie of the year? We'd say she's a very strong contender.
