Asen: Life After Small Town World Tour 2024/25 In Singapore

Chinese rapper Asen will be holding his first performance in Singapore on Nov 2 as part of his debut tour.

Since he appeared in rap competition show The Rap Of China in 2020, he has come to be known for his narrative rap style and poignant lyrics.

Asen is part of six-member Chinese rap outfit Digi Ghetto, which consist of rappers Mac Ova Seas, Thomeboydontkill, Toyoki, Mula Sakee and Kiv. He also collaborates frequently with other rappers. For instance, he worked with Chinese rapper Masiwei on the flashy number P.Y.T. (2023), which stands for “pretty young thing”.

American singer-songwriter d4vd had originally planned on performing here in November 2023, as part of his Petals To Thorns Tour, but the gig was postponed due to his poor health at the time.

However, he has recovered and will take the stage on Nov 4. Born David Burke, he hails from Houston, Texas, where he began writing and recording heart-piercing tracks alone in his sister’s closet.

An avid gamer, he noticed that the songs in his game montages on YouTube were getting copyright strikes – meaning they were removed due to copyright violations – and decided to write his own original music as a workaround.

In 2022, he released the melancholic indie rock song Romantic Homicide and the tender ballad Here With Me. Both became viral hits on TikTok and have each been played more than a billion times on Spotify.

The genre-defying newcomer’s songs range from indie-alternative to pop and R&B.

Catch the final few shows of the epic theatrical drama, featuring enchanting puppetry, haunting music and a spectacle inspired by Mongolian nomadic traditions.

Based on historical events in Central Asia, The Mongol Khan tells of the fictional Archug Khan, who has two sons born around the same time, each by one of his queens. The king, however, has an estranged relationship with one of the queens, and a tale of suspicion and intrigue unfolds, as he tries to find the legitimate heir to his throne.

The Mongolian production is being performed in Singapore for the first time and shows are in either Mongolian or English. For the English shows – on the evenings of Nov 1 to 3 – the cast will include Hollywood actors Ron Yuan (Prison Break), Mark Dacascos (Iron Chef America) and Leonard Wu (American Born Chinese).
