For more than a decade, Shradha Agarwal has been one of the most recognisable names in Singapore’s entertainment and fashion circles — not as an actor or model, but as the creative force shaping how they look.

A celebrated makeup artist with a career that spans television, film, fashion, and editorial work, Shradha has carved out her own niche in the industry with her distinctive blend of artistry, professionalism, and passion.

She has taken that experience to the page with her first book, Makeup. Portrait. Stories., which was written during the Covid period and published in 2023. It is part manual, part memoir, and part tribute to the stories of resilience she has encountered along the way.

From Kolkata to Singapore: A Journey of Passion

Born in Kolkata, India, Shradha moved to Singapore in 2006 after her marriage. What might have been a simple relocation turned into the start of a transformative career. Enrolling at the Cosmoprof Makeup Academy, she graduated with distinction in Professional Makeup Artistry and also earned certification in airbrush makeup.

Her flair for creative risk-taking and meticulous attention to detail quickly made her a sought-after name in Singapore’s entertainment scene. From working on Elizabeth Arden promotional roadshows to corporate shoots for Singapore Polytechnic and the Asian Television Awards, Shradha built a versatile portfolio that caught industry attention.

Achievements and Recognition

Shradha’s (right) editorial work has appeared in Singapore Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, Mother & Baby, and Aesthetics & Beauty. Her creativity also won her accolades: in 2014 she placed in the Top 8 of Shu Uemura’s The Beauty Art Makeup Competition and later clinched the brand’s award for makeup interpretation of haute street sport style.

In 2019, she was honoured with the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award by Zee TV and Dream Catchers, acknowledging her ability not just to thrive in the industry but to build a brand around her craft.

Her client list spans an impressive spectrum — from Bollywood celebrities like Govinda, Atif Aslam, and Meera Chopra, to renowned fashion designers such as Tarun Tahiliani, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Anita Dongre, and Gaurav Gupta.

She has also worked alongside nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar and photographer Moshin Abrar, even contributing to his directorial debut Welcome on Board.

The Book: Makeup. Portrait. Stories.

Shradha’s book is more than a beauty guide. It is a tapestry of her journey, packed with practical makeup tips, self-portrait photography, and stories of ambition, courage, and independence from her years in the industry.

“I wanted this book to be useful, not intimidating,” she explains. “The techniques are simple, the tips are practical, and they are all designed so readers can try them themselves and accentuate their best features.”

Through candid reflections, she also explores how makeup is not just about appearance but about confidence and empowerment — a message that resonates across her career.

Teaching and Giving Back

Beyond her work on set, Shradha has long been passionate about sharing her knowledge. She runs a professional studio at 434 Tanjong Katong Road, offering by-appointment services, private workshops, and professional certificate courses. Recently, she upgraded the studio with the aim of expanding it into a full-fledged makeup academy.

Her offerings range from beginner-friendly classes to advanced professional courses. She also hosts one-to-one sessions, mother-and-daughter bonding workshops, and makeup classes tailored to personal and cultural needs. For Shradha, teaching is about more than skills—it’s about building confidence and helping others discover their unique style.

A Distinct Approach

When asked what sets her apart from others in the field, Shradha is candid: “I never say no to a challenge. I take ownership of every project as if it were my own—not just because it’s paid work, but because I care about the outcome and the people behind it.”

Her colleagues and clients often describe her as resilient, proactive, and people-focused. Teamwork, she says, is central to her philosophy: “We lift each other up, and no one is ever made to feel small.”

Life Beyond the Brush

Since 2019, Shradha has also served as the in-house hair and makeup artist at Bloomberg News Singapore, a role that has honed her ability to deliver flawless, camera-ready looks under high-pressure broadcast conditions. For her, every assignment — whether a live news set, a red-carpet event, or a wedding—brings its own challenges and rewards.

At 41, she reflects with pride on her journey from Kolkata to becoming a cornerstone of Singapore’s beauty and entertainment industry. “Makeup is artistry with purpose,” she says. “It transforms not just appearances but the way people feel about themselves. That’s why I do what I do.”

Looking Ahead

As Shradha prepares to launch her academy and promote Makeup. Portrait. Stories., she remains committed to her central mission: to use makeup as a tool for empowerment. Whether through her book, her studio, or her hands-on teaching, she continues to shape not only the faces of her clients but also the confidence and self-belief of those she mentors.
