SINGAPORE: Singapore hanged two drug traffickers Thursday in what campaigners condemned as a “shameful and inhuman punishment”, taking to four the number of executions in the city-state since March.
The latest executions come after the hanging of a mentally disabled man in April sparked widespread international outrage, with the European Union and United Nations among those speaking out against it.

it's disheartening to hear this news over and over again. Despite the toughest law implemented against drug trafficking, we still see people attempting to smuggle drugs into Singapore. The reason is simple. There is very high demand for these drugs in Singapore. When there is demand, there will be supply Why are we so accommodating to drug addicts? They are, in my opinion, the main cause of the problem.

Those executed Thursday were Kalwant Singh, a 32-year-old from neighbouring Malaysia, and Singaporean Norasharee Gous, said prominent rights campaigner Kirsten Han.
