PETALING JAYA: S. Sivasangari's campaign in the British Open is over after the top Malaysian squash player lost to Egyptian teenager Amina Orfi in a gripping quarter-finals contest on Thursday (June 5).
The 17-year-old world No.5 from Egypt edged past Sivasangari 11-2, 4-11, 11-7, 11-9 in 59 minutes
to secure her first British Open semi-final appearance in Birmingham.
It is the third straight defeat to Amina, who had also beaten Sivasangari in the Malaysia Cup final and the Singapore Open semi-finals in November.
Despite this, it is still Sivasangari's best outing in the British Open.
The Kedah-born player had beaten Japan's seventh seed Satomi Watanabe to become the first Malaysian player to enter the quarter-finals since Datuk Nicol David in 2017 on Tuesday.
