A Singaporean toy designer based in Australia has been quietly turning some of Singapore's most recognisable personalities and historical figures into collectible art pieces.

And perhaps his most delightfully random creation so far is a Pez dispenser of former President Halimah Yacob.

Or should we say Prez-ident Halimah.

The collectible of the vintage-style candy dispenser, priced at S$80, even comes packaged like a classic Pez toy, complete with retro-inspired backing card artwork.

Unfortunately, it doesn't actually dispense sweets. Sad.

If you're already imagining a Pez dispenser-inspired Halimah Yacob sitting on your desk, there's some bad news.

The man responsible for these wonderfully niche creations is GT, a 40-year-old Singaporean who runs independent art toy brand Bird Hand Toys from Australia.

Before diving into the world of collectible figures full-time, GT spent close to two decades working in the tech industry. This included a stint at a FAANG company, aka one of the five major US technology companies: Meta (formerly Facebook), Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Alphabet (formerly Google).

GT describes his creations as "adult collectibles" rather than toys, with each figure produced in small quantities and aimed at collectors rather than children.

Prices typically range from around S$60 to over S$200, depending on the figure and packaging.

And judging by how quickly the Halimah Yacob Pez dispenser sold out, there appears to be no shortage of demand.

After all, where else are you going to find a Pez dispenser version of a former President sitting next to a miniature Lee Kuan Yew, or even Goh Chok Tong?

8days.sg has reached out to GT but has not gotten a response by press time.

Netizens were amused by the collectibles.  One even left a cheeky comment tagging the ex-Singapore President.

“Tagging her is like the student telling the teacher which classmate is doing something wrong,” wrote GT.

Hopefully, there is no detention coming his way.
