More than a year after her fiancé Jeremy Sng, 48, popped the question, 987 DJ Sonia Chew, 34, is finally getting hitched. Now, with less than two months to go until the big day, Sonia and Jeremy, an investment banker, are documenting their journey leading up to the very special moment on reality series Countdown To “I Do”.

On the topic of wedding planning, Sonia shared that she initially had no plans to engage a wedding planner. 

“I was like, I got this under control, I got friends… but somewhere along the way a wedding planning company actually reached out. I don’t know whether they felt my anxiety through the airwaves or whatever — big shoutout to The Conceptor, thank you for coming on board,” she declared. 

Sonia admitted she hadn’t realised just how many decisions needed to be made, or how much planning goes into pulling off a smooth wedding. “I definitely needed someone who knew what they were doing, and I think I did not know what the heck I was doing, to be honest,” she added.

Despite feeling anxious about the planning process, Sonia is actually super chill when it comes to her expectations. In fact, she admits that she’s so chill, the people around her and Jeremy are “getting anxiety from [her] lack of anxiety.”

Jeremy agreed wholeheartedly, adding that she is “definitely not a bridezilla.”

“I don’t think I ever had a moment in my life where I was like, this is the princess wedding that I envisioned, this is how I want to do it,” she explained.

While Jeremy revealed he is in charge of handling the contracts and finances during the busy planning process, Sonia admitted: “Honestly, I’m not gonna lie, I was fully dreading it.”

She shared that she has never been much of a planner, and that she and Jeremy couldn’t be more different — he’s very organised, while she prefers to go with the flow.

“Anything to me that required so much decision-making, and then all of a sudden there were a lot of questions being asked, I had an internal meltdown. That was when I felt like, am I even going to enjoy this process?” she added.

With the wedding just around the corner, Sonia also confessed that they haven’t done a pre-wedding shoot, joking to Jeremy: “I mean… technically we have a lot of pictures with each other already right? Should we just use one of those?”

When asked what made him decide it was time to propose to Sonia, Jeremy had a very sweet response. 

“We’ve been dating for close to eight years now. I think along the way, it kind of felt natural for me. She’s so much a part of my life, and I’ve met many people, but with Sonia it was something special,” he said. 

“It was her character and sincerity, her caring nature and her loving heart that really attracted me to her. And as we dated, every day, as I got to know her, it just felt right, it felt like she was a part of my life, and she made me a better person, and as a couple we have grown and I can’t imagine life without her.”

Sonia, touched by his words, also added that Jeremy has made her a “healthier person”. 

Describing herself as the more “chaotic” one in the relationship, she shared that she tends to stay out late and enjoys partying, while Jeremy prefers early mornings, working out, and eating healthy, and isn’t a fan of late nights. Over time, the couple have found a middle ground that works for them.
