SIBU (Dec 31): Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh distributed a total of RM70,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to 11 associations in Sibu today.

Speaking before the handing over of the fund at Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Bawang Assan Service Centre at Jalan Wawasan today, he said due to the high number of applicants, he would try his best to provide funds to as many associations as possible.

“Today, it is for the associations, and I know that you need funds for your yearly activities.  I know it is not easy,” he said.

He emphasised that the MRP funds are from the government and should be returned to the people.

According to him, Bawang Assan covers a big area, both in the town and rural areas.

Also present at the event were political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Joshua Ting, PDP Bawang Assan chairman Wong Hua and Soon Koh’s personal assistant Sean Wong.
