Last week, Sophie Turner shared a bunch of photos and videos of herself living her best life at an Oasis concert with a friend.

But sadly, one internet user took Sophie’s post as an opportunity to mom-shame her, questioning why she wasn’t with her kids.

As you might know, Sophie shares two young daughters with her ex-husband, Joe Jonas. And while their 2023 split was initially incredibly messy, the pair appear to be on good terms now, and have talked openly about coparenting between the UK, where she is from, and the US, where he is from.

Last year, Sophie admitted that she “hates” being alone at her house while her kids are with Joe, describing her loneliness as “absolute agony” during a chat with Harper’s Bazaar.

In the same interview, Sophie told the outlet, “I want [my kids] to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships. I’ll come back and say, ‘This is why Mummy was away – it’s because she’s doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents.’”

And so, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Sophie was so quick to hit back at the Instagram user who mom-shamed her under her Oasis post. The user wrote, “lmfao i think she has forgotten that she has two kids,” to which Sophie replied, “ah I’m so sorry sometimes I forget some people can’t think for themselves. So…. Get this….There’s this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day.”

Sophie has since been flooded with support from infuriated fans who are calling out the double standards around expectations from mothers compared to fathers. “I’m sure no one is commenting on the Jonas accounts wondering why he isn’t with his kids,” one user wrote. “Yet no one comments ‘I think he has forgotten he has 2 kids’ under Joe’s posts. Double standards in 2025 is crazy,” another person echoed.

“no one gives a fuck if men piss off for milk and never come back but a woman does a single thing except be a walking breathing incubator and robot that just follows her kids around she’s the worst mother in the world,” someone said, while another simply added, “Mom's truly can't win.”

“ppl gotta ease up! Moms can't do it ‘right’ no matter wtf they do these days,” one comment said.

Someone questioned, “Are moms not allowed to have friends and take pictures without their kids?” Another user asked, “Do people not realize that parents have lives outside of their children?”

Meanwhile, one more person added, “The fact that it's a woman doing the shaming makes it so much more heartbreaking to read.”
