The Squid Game’s afoot!

Netflix has set the premiere date for its highly-anticipated reality show, an adaptation of the Korean series Squid Game on Nov 22. The streaming service has also shared a one-minute teaser.

The Squid Game: The Challenge sees 456 players from around the world — will there be reps from Singapore? — competing in various challenges based on the Emmy-winning original scripted series, as well as new ones. The last person standing takes home US$4.56 million (S$6.22 mil), the biggest cash prize in reality TV history.

How far are the players willing to go to win the top prize? What kind of alliances and sacrifices are they prepared to make? Is there a place for nice guys?

As one contestant says in the teaser, “People do a whole lot worse for a whole lot less.”

The production for the 10-part series got off to a bad start contestants required medical attention during the shoot, which took place in the UK, during a surprise cold snap.

Meanwhile, Season 2 of Squid Game is currently in production and is expected to launch next year.

Four original cast members Lee Jung-Jae (who plays Seong Gi-Hun), Lee Byung-Hun (The Front Man), Wi Ha-Jun (Hwang Jun-Ho) and Goo Yoo (The Salesman) are returning alongside new ones, including Voice’s Lee Jin-Wook, Celebrity’s Park Gyu-Young and Moving’s Yang Dong-Geun.
