Heads up, caffeine lovers and Starbucks fans. The renowned coffeehouse chain has launched its first ‘Borrow A Cup’ programme here in Singapore in an effort to encourage customers to shift away from single-use cups. This is in tandem with its global goal to reduce waste sent to landfills by 50% by 2030.
The programme is rolled across three stores in the National University of Singapore (NUS) from now till May 2022. Created in partnership with Muuse, a lifestyle mobile app, the programme allows customers to borrow cups by scanning a QR code on the cup. Customers can then bring the used cup back to the dedicated return stations located at the participating Starbucks stores (NUS Techno Edge, NUS University Town and NUS Wet Science Building). The cups can be reused up to 30 times.
