Stranger Things Final Season Premiere Date Revealed
Stranger Things' last season will turn the 2025 holiday season upside down.
The fifth and final installment of the hit Netflix series will be released in three stages. Volume one, consisting of four episodes, will premiere Nov. 26—the day before Thanksgiving. The announcement was made during Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and in a YouTube video shared May 31.
Volume two of season five, made up of three episodes, will premiere Dec. 25—Christmas Day. The Stranger Things series finale will be released the following week, on New Year's Day 2025.
The show's return is coming over three years after its fourth season ended in 2022. In a November 2024 teaser, Netflix confirmed that season five will take place in the fall of 1987, a year after the initial date of Eleven’s listed disappearance.
While minimal other details have been shared, creators Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer—collectively known as the Duffer Brothers—shared some insight into what went into filming the final installment.
“We spent a full year filming this season,” Ross said during the Next on Netflix event in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane.”
In February, Millie Bobby Brown shared with E! News how hard it was to say goodbye after growing up on the show, explaining that it was “really upsetting on the last day, to say goodbye to my favorite crew members, to my favorite cast, my favorite directors I’ve ever been able to work with.”
She continued, "What a wonderful, wonderful production that I was able to be a part of."
Her costar, Finn Wolfhard, also shared his sadness for the show's end, writing on Instagram in December, “We just wrapped Stranger Things Season 5. I’m still in shock. We shot it for a year and I’ll miss all of my friends and our characters terribly.”
Finn also shared some throwback pictures with his castmates, which included Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery and Natalia Dyer.
“When I think of the show, I picture this first photo,” he wrote of the photo shot in the early days. “A bunch of goofy young people making something they think is cool but really have no clue what’s to come. I feel like we’re still those people and I’m lucky to still stand beside them today.”
He then teased what is yet to come for fans, adding, “I hope you’ll love this season as much as I do. See you all next year.”
