PETALING JAYA: A structural assessment of the area at Megah Rise Mall affected by the ceiling collapse on Saturday (Oct 28) is being done, says developer PPB Properties..

"A team of consultants have been engaged to conduct a comprehensive structural assessment and implement necessary repairs and reinforcements. Public safety is our priority," said PPB Properties chief executive officer Low Eng Hooi.

"We are committed to implementing rigorous safety measures to protect our community and prevent similar incidents in the future," added Low.

He said that PPB Properties is cooperating fully with all relevant authorities to manage the situation as swiftly as possible, adding that the affected area was promptly evacuated and debris has been cleared.

“The safety and well-being of our customers, tenants and staff are always our top priority, and immediate measures were taken to ensure the safety of everyone present during the incident," said Low in a press release on Saturday.

He added that all other areas at the Megah Rise Mall remain operational

He said that a period of strong winds and heavy rainfall had struck at about 3pm before the incident and the three victims have received necessary medical attention.

"Our thoughts are with those affected by the incident. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” said Low.
