If you're among the many people hooked onto Netflix's new series Teach You a Lesson, which follows a team that deals with school troublemakers through unconventional and sometimes even extreme methods, you might think such scenarios only exist on screen.  

However, a recent case in Thailand has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons, proving that in reality, certain cases can sometimes be just as shocking. 

According to Thai media outlet Khaosod, a CCTV clip shared by popular Thai social media page ‘Social Hunter 2022’ on June 14 captured a scene no educator would want to experience: A female teacher chased across campus grounds by a young student armed with a knife.

In the video, the teacher was seen running across the school grounds, seemingly panicked, while a young boy followed closely behind with a knife in hand.

The incident reportedly occurred on June 12, when the nine-year-old student became involved in a heated argument with a classmate. His homeroom teacher reportedly intervened and attempted to de-escalate the situation, giving the boy a stern warning while also counselling him over his behaviour.

Instead of calming down, the student was said to have become even more enraged after getting scolded.

He began shouting insults at the teacher, and as the situation became increasingly difficult to control, the teacher instructed him to go home and reflect on his behaviour. She also informed his parents about what had happened.

And that’s when things took a turn for the worse. 

After returning home, the boy reportedly retrieved a sharp machete-like knife from his family’s kitchen and returned to the school. Once on campus, he sought out the homeroom teacher who had reprimanded him and chased her with the weapon in front of students and staff members.

Terrified, the teacher fled while screaming for help, with the footage showing her running desperately as the boy chased her from behind, carrying a long blade.

Thankfully, a school groundskeeper was alerted to the incident and intervened, successfully calming the boy and persuading him to drop the knife, preventing what could have been a very dire outcome.

Reports also state that the boy had a history of violent behaviour. He had allegedly been involved in repeated conflicts with classmates and had engaged in acts of aggression, bullying, intimidation, and extortion. Some students were even said to have transferred schools because of his behaviour.

The incident has sparked widespread public concern, prompting Thai authorities to launch an investigation into the case.
