Student Orchestra Hilariously Fails To Stifle Laughter During Taiwanese Singer's Off-Key Performance

A recent clip of Taiwanese star Chen Ming Zhen live performance has left many in stitches. But it was not entirely because of Ming Zhen herself.

The 58-year-old singer and actress sang Valen Hsu's 'Ru Guo Yun Zhi Dao' (如果云知道想), accompanied by a junior high school student orchestra behind her on stage. Let's just say that on that day, Ming Zhen sounded a lot pitchier than usual.

While she poured her emotions into the performance, there were portions that she went off-key, and it proved to be a bit too much for some of the young musicians to handle. A boy playing the violin was caught on camera trying his best to hold in his laughter several times, but later failed as he was caught in 4K, silently chuckling to himself.

The boy's reaction was so contagious, his fellow violinist next to him also began grinning widely in an attempt to suppress his laughter.

Meanwhile, a girl, who was also playing the violin, was also caught pursing her lips in a valiant attempt to stifle a laugh.

Speaking to the media after her performance, Ming Zhen admitted: "When I was on stage just now, my voice had yet to fully warm up. I also had to get used to the environment and the microphone."

Ming Zhen's lyricist husband, Ji Zhong Ping, who is also the person who penned the words to the song, spoke in her defense: "This is a very unpretentious performance, with very little audio effects used. [The entire thing] was very real, and very challenging for the singer."

Netizens were tickled by the scene, with many saying that the student's reaction was "cute" and also the most "real" thing about the entire show. Others also said that Ming Zhen's singing was "not that bad", but made funnier by the young musicians in the background.
