KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar has announced his resignation as chairman of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation, Malaysia, with effect from April 30, 2024.

Syed Hamid, who was appointed to the chair in August 2021, said in a one-page statement that he had informed the board and management of the decision and was leaving with a "heavy heart".
