Last week, Chinese stars Zhang Ziyi, 44, and Wang Feng, 52, confirmed that they have ended their eight-year marriage. 

In a joint statement, the couple, who tied the knot in 2015, announced that they will "move on as family members in raising and nurturing [their] kids, and will continue to be reliable parents to them."

Ziyi and Wang Feng have two kids — a eight-year-old daughter Xing Xing, and a three-year-old son — together.

While the reason behind their split was never explicitly said, Taiwanese paparazzo Ge Siqi seems to have some insider tea to spill. 

On Saturday (Oct 28), Siqi spoke about Ziyi and Wang Feng's failed marriage on a live stream.

Siqi first said he has intel claiming that Ziyi initiated the divorce. 

The alleged reason? Wang Feng's gambling problem. 

"Let me be honest, don't let the fact that they have a combined networth of 3.5bil yuan (S$654mil) fool you," asserted Siqi.

"There are many rumours claiming that Wang Feng is a gambler... His ex-girlfriends and ex-wives have also complained about this," he added.

Ziyi, on the other hand, is said to be "stingy" and "cares more about money", which is probably why her ex-husband's gambling problem was a big no-no for her. 

This isn't the first time Wang Feng has been called out for being an avid gambler.

In 2015, the singer was spotted at a Poker competition. He was also called a "pioneer in gambling" by 'China's no.1 paparazzo' Zhuo Wei. 

At that time, Wang Feng sued Zhuo Wei for damaging his reputation and demanded a TWD10mil (S$422K) compensation.

However, he lost the case after the jury decided that Zhuo Wei's words were not necessarily baseless. 

The divorce marks Wang Feng's third failed marriage.

The singer was previously married to host Qi Dan from 2003 to 2004, and was secretly married from 2007 to 2013 to Kang Zuoru, with whom he has a daughter, Jingyi, 11. 

He has another daughter, 18-year-old Apple, with ex-girlfriend, Chinese model Ge Huijie.Photos: starettoday
