Thailand’s ‘Inhaler Granny’ Is The Cutest Attraction Of The Night Markets

Think of souvenirs from Thailand, and their popular herbal inhalers will definitely come to mind.

One type of inhaler, which comes in an iconic, small lime-green tub, is said to have a whole bunch of benefits, including helping users stay alert, easing dizzy spells, and clearing stuffy noses.

The natural remedy is not only popular in Thailand  — people from all over the world, including Singapore, are using it.

That said, have you ever gotten an inhaler from Thailand’s viral Inhaler Granny?

Known to frequent the night markets in Kanchanaburi, including JJ Night Market and Sai Yok Noi, the granny is often spotted dressed in a raincoat fully covered with green tubs.

She also holds a large tub, around 10 times the size of the regular one, and carries a tote bag filled with the good stuff — the perfect mascot for the product if we’ve ever seen one.

According to some tourists who were lucky enough to encounter the granny, all you have to do is to take a selfie with her to snag yourself a free inhaler.

Some eagle-eyed netizens noticed the brand granny promotes is not what they call the “OG” Hong Thai brand, but instead, is of a similar brand, Hanuman. Tubs from both brands appear to be identical from a distance, but can be differentiated from their logos.

What most people can agree on though, is how excellent of a marketing plan the Inhaler Granny makes. In fact, she’s got the Internet gushing over how cute she looks.

“Lowkey a great way to promote your items,  just wear them on yourself,” quipped one netizen, while another mused: “Love how she wears that in the heat just to give the products away.”

Those addicted to Thai inhalers would also be able to relate to this comment: “I may need that big bottle that she’s holding instead of those little ones.”
