The Little Mermaid star Jacob Tremblay has revealed that he was well and truly ‘pushed out of his comfort zone’ during his intense stint in Cold Copy.

The 16-year-old shot to fame at the age of eight, thanks to his role as Jack in 2015 flick Room, alongside Brie Larson.

Since then, he has lit up the screen in Before I Wake, My Father’s Dragon, Pete The Cat and most recently as Flounder in the live-action adaptation of the Little Mermaid.

It’s safe to say that his Cold Copy character, ‘cocky teen’ Igor Nowak is a world away from any of those characters, something that Jacob relished.

‘That’s exactly what drew me to this film, it is very different,’ he told Metro.co.uk on the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere on Sunday. ‘I had never played a character like this before, so it was really cool.

‘Typically, when you’re doing a character, you always try and find something that you have in common. And there’s really nothing I had in common with this character.

‘I think that’s a good thing for this one, because it really put me out of my comfort zone. I was really doing something that I hadn’t done before, I had to really learn this character.’
