The Surprising Sign Hugh Jackman’s Once-Golden Image Might Be Slipping
Is Hugh Jackman seeing a dip in his popularity? That is what some fans are claiming after the 56-year-old actor is struggling to sell tickets for Hugh Jackman: From New York, With Love at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Jackman’s next performances are June 20 and 21, and theDaily Maillooked into how seats were selling on Ticketmaster.com. They noted that “there are still hundreds of seats available for purchase, with the majority of seats available located in the orchestra section where ticket prices are higher than the sections above…” It’s a big downturn from the sold-out shows he performed earlier this year at the same venue.
Some fans are speculating that the downturn in ticket sales has something to do with the Wolverine star’s messy love life. His alleged affair with Music Man co-star Sutton Foster appeared to be confirmed by his estranged wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, who filed for divorce on May 23. She also gave a statement to the Daily Mailthat hinted at the possibly inappropriate romance between her ex and Foster.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It’s a profound wound that cuts deep; however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us,” the statement reads.
In addition to the demise of his marriage, some fans don’t love his association with Ryan Reynolds amid his wife, Blake Lively’s ongoing lawsuit with Justin Baldoni. “I’ve stayed out of this personal matter to date, but with Hugh’s close friendship with Ryan Reynolds whose behaviour has been despicable, I’ve gone right off him. Karma Hugh,” wrote one social media account on X.
The negativity toward Jackman is rather recent development given that he’s been one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors for decades. His nice-guy reputation definitely took a hit since he and Furness shocked the world with their separation announcement in September 2023. “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they said in a statement to People.
“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Jackman and Foster, who is currently divorcing her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin, have yet to make their red carpet debut. Still, they’ve been spotted by the paparazzi multiple times this year, no longer hiding their blossoming romance.
