The Beckham family drama doesn’t look like it’ll be easing off any time soon, with Cruz Beckham seemingly shading his older brother Brooklyn Peltz Beckham on Instagram on Sunday.

But first, some context. You may remember that when 26-year-old Brooklyn married his wife, billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz Beckham, in 2022, there were a whole load of rumors — not to mention pretty obvious hints — that there was some kind of beef between Nicola and Brooklyn’s mom, Victoria Beckham.

After some time, the two women appeared to put their differences behind them, and utilized social media to let the world know they were back on good terms. And, for a short while, all seemed well in Camp Beckham... Until Brooklyn’s dad, David Beckham’s, 50th birthday celebrations this year.

It didn’t go unnoticed by the family’s millions of followers that Brooklyn and Nicola skipped not one, but all three of David’s celebrations, with the first taking place in Miami at the end of March, and the last two in London in early May.

David shared photos from each of his parties on Instagram, including photos with Victoria and their other three children: 22-year-old Romeo, 20-year-old Cruz, and 13-year-old Harper.

If you’ve been following the Beckhams on social media over the years, you’ll have noticed that whenever they post a family photo without one of their kids, they’ll make a point of acknowledging their absence in the caption, as seen here and here. Notably, David made no mention of Brooklyn and Nicola’s repeated absences this time around.

“There are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family,” a source later told People, before insisting that “the relationship is definitely not beyond repair.”

The insider also said that the couple had been invited to David’s celebrations but chose not to come. According to the source, the Beckhams “love and are always there for” Brooklyn, but are “hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”

And amid growing speculation surrounding the apparent family feud, it has been widely reported that it all stems from Romeo’s relationship with 24-year-old Kim Turnbull, whom he was first linked to in November. According to unverified reports, Brooklyn is unhappy with the romance as he briefly dated Kim in the past, and is wary of her “intentions” with his brother. However, others have claimed that Brooklyn and Kim never actually dated.

There also appears to be tension between Romeo and Cruz and their sister-in-law, Nicola, with the brothers adding fuel to the very messy situation through some shady Instagram comments last month.

For reference, before he started dating Kim, Romeo had a five-year on-again, off-again relationship with British model Mia Regan, whom he split from for the final time in February last year. Mia appeared to develop a close relationship with Nicola during this time, and they still follow one another on Instagram.

On April 5, Mia posted a photo of her Pop cover story to her profile, and Nicola shared her admiration as she commented: “so beautiful mia 🩷✨,” which Mia liked at the time.

Just two days later, the Beckham brothers appeared to throw shade at Nicola’s comment when Romeo shared a collection of photos to his Instagram account on April 7 — including pictures of Kim. Undeniably mocking Nicola, Cruz commented on Romeo’s post: “So beautiful Romeo ✨🩷,” with Romeo replying: “😂😂”

And Cruz appeared to make another pointed dig at the Peltz Beckhams on Sunday, after Brooklyn shared an eyebrow-raising Instagram caption alongside a video of him and Nicola cruising around on a motorbike, with Nicola sitting behind her husband and wrapping her arms around him to hold on.

Tagging Nicola in the post, Brooklyn wrote at the time: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby❤️❤️”

Nicola shared the same video and wrote: “ive always got you baby ❤️🔥.”

Needless to say, many of Brooklyn’s followers interpreted his caption as a dig at his family, especially his parents, with one popular comment reading: “Don’t forget your beautiful parents who will always love you unconditionally.”

“If that was my son saying that, knowing what the post is about, I would be devastated. Blood is thicker than water,” another wrote. “Make sure the damage isn’t irreparable when you need your family again.”

And Cruz seemingly felt the same way; soon after his big brother’s post went live, he shared a telling statement of his own to his Instagram story alongside a family photo from when everybody got together to celebrate Victoria’s show at Paris Fashion Week in September 2024 — including Brooklyn and Nicola.

Pointedly, Cruz posted a picture that Nicola wasn’t in, and wrote: “I love my family, I love you guys more than anything, mum & dad, you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we all are to have you in our lives x.”

Neither Victoria nor David have publicly acknowledged either of their sons’ social media posts from the weekend, but I’m sure that they would have been pretty appreciative of Cruz’s.
