Two lifelong friends, Hawaii natives, are modernizing an old, beloved local tradition with their meaningful new jewelry band, HIE.
Meleana Estes and Noël Shaw, born and raised in the distant islands, were each welcomed into the world like many Hawaiian women: their births marked by gold bangles engraved with their names.
Throughout their lives, the bracelets have never come off—not when they surf in the mornings, not when they run errands, or exercise, or take meetings, and certainly not when they welcomed their own children. As the years pass, each major milestone in their lives has been celebrated with another gold bangle engraved with a name, a date, or a word that communicates the importance of the moment.
