It takes a certain level of confidence to say you look like a screen goddess — and this Taiwanese student apparently has it in spades.

Recently, it was announced that the Goodwill Ambassador Team at National Taipei University of Education had been selected to take part in Taiwan's National Day welcoming ceremony after a three-year hiatus.

This year's team is said to come equipped with brand-new uniforms, foreign-language skills and physical fitness.

And apparently, some celebrity lookalikes too.

Among those getting attention is the team's leader, who has been compared to Ruby Lin.

And unlike most people who might shy away from such a flattering comparison, the student confidently agreed.

“I personally think I do look quite similar to Ruby Lin. It’s because my mother looks like her,” she said, while pulling out a photo of her mum when she was young.

"You can tell that it's because I look like [my mother]. I look like Ruby Lin all thanks to my mother’s genes."

She also said she felt extremely honoured to be likened to the My Fair Princess star.

Netizens, however, weren't quite as convinced.

Some said they were “speechless” after watching the interview, while others were considerably less kind.

“Please do not insult Ruby Lin, thank you,” snarked one hater.

“Seriously, who has been deceiving them?” another asked.

Ouch.

And the team leader isn't the only member drawing celebrity comparisons.

Another student has been said to resemble S.H.E's Ella Chen.

“At first, I thought: ‘Really?’ because I only started hearing this in high school. Then my friends made a video,” said aforementioned student.

While she didn't directly agree with the comparison, the student admitted that she and Ella do share one similarity: their personalities.

“We are both the ones responsible for creating a lively atmosphere and being cheerful in the team,” she said.

Whether they're celebrity doppelgängers or not, you can't fault them for confidence.
