A Hong Kong secondary school principal is facing backlash online after a video circulating on social media showed him allegedly swearing at two female security guards during a study trip in Singapore.

According to posts circulating online, the incident involved Li Zhuoxing, principal of Tuen Mun S.K.H. Association Secondary School. 

The dispute was reportedly over where the tour bus had been parked.

In the now-viral clip, Zhuoxing was allegedly seen arguing with two female security guards before appearing to lose his temper.

At one point, he was heard shouting: “You shut up!” He also was jeering at the women.

The security guard was also seen losing her temper, and started screaming at him to “go behind!”.

According to SCMP, Hong Kong’s education authorities have demanded a written report from a secondary school. The Education Bureau expressed concerns over the case on May 24, saying it had approached the school and its sponsoring body, and would remain in close contact to provide advice.⁠

Should it be determined that there was indeed professional misconduct, authorities may review the individual’s teaching registration and take action depending on the severity of the case.

The bureau also stressed that teachers and principals are expected to serve as role models for students through their behaviour, professional ethics, and personal conduct.

The school has also reportedly activated its internal crisis management team to look into the matter.

The argument has since incensed netizens, many criticising the man's behaviour as inappropriate for an educator, especially during an overseas school trip involving students.

“Why did the situation escalate so dramatically? And did the students witness everything?” asked one.

Another who claimed to be a Hong Konger living in Singapore posted on Threads, writing: “This behaviour is an absolute disgrace, and completely misrepresents the values of the Hong Kong community.”
