When I was finishing school, I had a pretty good idea of what I enjoyed.

I loved writing. I loved putting ideas together, telling stories and finding creative ways to communicate something. It was the kind of work that felt natural to me, and I could picture myself doing something connected to it in the future.

The part I struggled with was understanding what that actually looked like as a career. Because when you’re at school, the careers you hear about most often tend to be the ones that already have a clear pathway attached to them.

You know what it takes to become a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer or an engineer because those careers are talked about constantly. But if your interests don’t fit neatly into one of those categories, it can be much harder to know what options are even available.

I knew I liked writing, but I didn’t know all the different industries where those skills could be useful.

I didn’t know about all the roles that involved storytelling, creativity, communication and problem-solving. I also didn’t always know how my academic results might shape the opportunities I could realistically pursue.

Looking back, I needed more insight into what was possible rather than someone telling me exactly what career to choose. And that experience resonates with a lot of people.

People often say it’s okay if you don't have your whole future figured out when you leave school, and they’re right. But the conversation often stops there. You’re reassured that you’ll work it out, without always being shown the different pathways you could explore or how to find the one that feels right for you.

That uncertainty can be overwhelming. Around 70% of young Aussies say they experience high levels of anxiety, stress and fear when thinking about their future.

OECD data shows almost half of students are considering the same 10 career paths despite there being thousands of other industries they could explore.

Many students have interests and ambitions, but they don’t always get enough opportunities to connect those interests with real career options. That’s the gap Anyway is helping to address.

The Australian careers and tech platform helps young people explore real career pathways in a more hands-on, low-pressure way through short, interactive exercises.

On Anyway, you can dive into different industries, try out practical activities and get a feel for what day-to-day work in those fields is actually like — all while picking up skills that connect directly to real roles.

Anyway

When you log on, you can work through short modules created with help from industry experts, covering everything from emerging fields like generative AI to practical life skills that can make the transition beyond school easier — including budgeting, taxes and networking.

As you complete modules and keep exploring, you can earn coins that can be redeemed for rewards or chances to win money-can’t-buy experiences, meaning you can level up your future plans while actually getting something back.

We love an incentive!

And if you’ve ever wished someone could just help you connect the dots between what you enjoy and what you could actually do with it, Anyway has Blinky — its AI Career Coach.

By getting to know your interests, values and goals, Blinky helps you explore pathways that could genuinely suit you, rather than just suggesting the same careers everyone has already heard of.

Bringing together career exploration, practical learning and personalised guidance, Anyway helps you get a clearer picture of what’s out there and feel more confident about where your interests could take you.

Your future doesn’t come with a cheat sheet, but Anyway can help you start figuring out what’s next. Explore the platform, get informed about your options and start manifesting and working towards a future that actually feels right for you.
