It seems like SMRT trains have been continuing to find new life even after they have been decommissioned, and we have Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s upcycling project to thank for that. Following the announcement of a decommissioned train being transformed into Singapore’s first co-living train hotel is another exciting initiative by City Developments Limited (CDL) that is set to launch during the period between the end of 2024 to early 2025. This time, another decommissioned SMRT train cabin will be repurposed into a hub for sustainability education and awareness at City Square Mall, marking the first project of its kind.
