Traditional treats for Jade Emperor
FOR decades, the Ooi family in Penang has faithfully gathered to make t’ng tak (sugar pagoda) and mee koo (red tortoise bun) for the Thnee Kong Seh (Jade Emperor’s Birthday) celebration.
Ooi Lye Soon, 63, learnt the skill of making t’ng tak from his father when he was 12.
